About us
Hope for Development and Humanitarian Service (HDHS) is a humanitarian, non-governmental organization founded in 2009 by a group of dedicated young people in Bangladesh who came together with a shared commitment to serve humanity. Registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) of the Government of Bangladesh, HDHS is a non-political and non-profit organization headquartered in Dhaka, working across the country to uplift disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.
Since its founding, HDHS has been working tirelessly in the fields of education, health, water and sanitation, disaster relief, orphan care, livelihood development, and the construction of mosques, madrasas, and homes for the poor. What started as a small circle of volunteers has, over more than a decade, grown into a structured organization with dedicated program teams, field staff, and a growing network of donors and well-wishers, both within Bangladesh and abroad.
Guided by the spirit of selfless service, HDHS strives to build a compassionate, self-reliant, and dignified society for the underprivileged people of Bangladesh — reaching families in urban slums, remote villages, and disaster-prone coastal and riverine areas alike.
Our Story
HDHS traces its roots to 2009, when a group of young Bangladeshis — moved by the hardship they witnessed around them — began pooling small personal contributions to help a handful of families in their community. What started as informal support for a few orphaned children and flood-affected households gradually expanded into organized programs, formal registration with the NGO Affairs Bureau, and a nationwide presence.
Today, HDHS carries forward that same founding spirit at a much larger scale, while remaining rooted in direct, community-level engagement.
